These programs for 6-7 year olds are designed to foster your child's excitement in animals. Explore, experience, and discover the Zoo with live animal encounters and age-appropriate activities.

Who can participate?

  • Children 6-7 years old.
  • Adults are always welcome but need not accompany the child. (No Charge for adults.)

Where do 6-7 year old programs take place?

  • Most occur in the Harold C. Schott Education Center. Confirmation materials will be received once you have registered.

NATURE HAD IT FIRST Armor, dams, swimming goggles, and even perfume - all of these ideas were inspired by animals! Find out more about animal inventors and meet some of the originals up close. Register Online

SKELETONS Whether it's inside or outside the body, animals have some pretty impressive skeletons. We'll practice putting together a skeleton as we learn about different bones and the animals that have them. Then, we'll meet some animals to figure out how their bones are different. Register Online

SENSATIONAL SENSES Can you see as far as a hawk or hear as well as a hedgehog? Through several activities, we will test our senses and then meet some animals with terrific senses! We may even find some animals that use senses that humans don't have. Register Online

For 4-7 Year Olds Mini Holiday Camp

TROPICAL HOLIDAY VACATION Looking for something to do during a day off school? How about an adventure at the Zoo? This four-hour program is designed to be an engaging and interactive experience for your child as they take a tropical vacation and learn about animals that call the tropical rainforest home. We will explore the Zoo for tropical animals, read stories, play games, meet some animal ambassadors, and make crafts for an enjoyable way to spend a day off from school! Please pack a lunch (snack provided). Register Online

Winter Series

ARTIC ANIMALS

Enjoy the beginning of the winter season as we learn how animals survive in the snow and ice. Dress warm for a hike in the Zoo to visit some of our residents that enjoy the cold. We will learn about the adaptations that keep animals protected even in the coldest environments and make a “polar bear wreath” that you can take home. After class, enjoy the PNC Festival of Lights – a Cincinnati holiday tradition!. Register Online

FUR, FEATHERS, AND SCALES Whether it’s a harbor seal, a scarlet macaw, or a fat-tailed gecko, animals are covered in a variety of things! From the softest fur to the toughest scales, we’ll discover how these coverings help the animals and even have a chance to see what a couple animals feel like. Register Online

ANIMAL SUPERSTARS Could you beat an ant in a weight lifting contest or a cheetah in a 50-yard dash? Investigate what it takes to be an animal superstar and look for some around the Zoo. We’ll test a few of your athletic abilities and see how you measure up with the animal world’s best! Register Online

Zoo Yoga

ZOO YOGA Roar like a tiger. Fly like a bird. Move as slowly as a sloth. Explore the world of animals and plants in a fun new way - through yoga! This fun and interactive program is a beginner/ mid-level class for you child and can serve as a great foundation for developing an interest in wildlife and fitness that can last a lifetime. Parents are welcome to participate with their children. Afterward, explore the Zoo on your own or together with others from the class. Yoga mats are provided. Please bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothing. Register Online
