Your 8-11 year old will explore, experience, and discover during these programs. Designed to foster your child's excitement in animals, the program combines live animal encounters with age-appropriate activities and learning opportunities.

Who can participate?

  • Children 8-11 years old.
  • Adults are always welcome but need not accompany the child. (No Charge for adults.)

How much are 8-11 year old programs?

  • Sign up for individual classes, or for the entire series and save!
  • Cost per Class: $12/ Member - $16/ Non-Member
  • Cost per Series: $30/ Member - $42/ Non-Member

Where do 8-11 year old programs take place?

  • Most occur in the Harold C. Schott Education Center. Confirmation materials will be received once you have registered.

MASTERS OF THE NIGHT From the tiny bumblebee bat to the flying fox, bats are one of the most numerous species of mammal - and the only ones that can fly! Enter the exciting world of bats and discover why they truly are masters of the night. Register Online

MIGRATION EXPLORATION Fall marks the migration of several of our feathered summer residents. Explore the basics of bird watching as we learn to identify some of the most common Ohio birds. We'll also spend time outside looking for some of our migrants. Register Online

ANIMALS IN JEOPARDY

In order to survive in the wild, wildlife has to overcome many challenges. Test your endangered animal knowledge with a game of Animal Jeopardy and then head out to the Zoo to look at some endangered species and learn what steps are being taken to conserve them. Register Online

TRACKS AND SCAT Even when animals are not around, you can tell a lot about them by what they leave behind. Come test your identification skills as we try to identify animals by their tracks and scat. We’ll make some tracks to take home too. Register Online

TALON TALES

Falcons, hawks, eagles, and owls are symbols of power, grace and elegance. What characteristics bind these birds together? Why would some hawks rather eat songbirds than sit with them? Find out the answer to these and other “raptor” questions through live animal encounters, activities, and a hike in the Zoo! Register Online
